I personally sort of cringe when I hear people say; "God gives us what we need, not just what we want". As diehard alcoholics often do, I see the differences sometimes in what people say vs.. what I want to hear. So because I "want" to hear something else, I will often block out some good information.

When your first trying to get sober, being able to identify what that is...is a real challenge and can be frustrating to the point of being agitated so much so that it becomes a sort of repellent to alchoholics...
