I am an recovering drug addict; I used to take pills. I have been clean for over a year now. While I was using, the girl Iwas seeing attempted to take my 2 daughters from me and started the court process. I have full custody of my girls now, and don't choose to talk witht the woman that started all of this as she is still a user and continues to try and create havoc in my life. I am supposer to get an AA Sponsor for the courts, but am not required to go to meetings. I have no desire to take pills any longer, I know what I stand to gain being sober and what I have to loose if I were to relapse. Does anyone have suggestions in who can/could be my spnsor so that court can dismiss this, and i can go on with my life with my family?
While the court doesn't INSIST you go to AA meetings you may find it more useful that you think. There is bound to be people there that are going through, or have gone through, similar events in their lives. You might find some little tool that will help to underscore your commitment to sobriety and make your life a bit easier. You might consider "The Other Fellowship" (NA) as an alternative as your drug of choice was pills.
Keep in mind that if you don't deal with the root causes that started you taking drugs, or drinking, in the first place you may look at drugs as a viable option for your difficulties in the future. Think about it
